Apart from beautiful nature of the region, wils forests with bears and mysterious vampire stories (perfect to visit Dracula’s residence and several more castles) the hosts also respect and adore the traditional Transylvanian village life and want to show you a slice of that.
During this vacation, you will ride our well-trained, sturdy and forward going Hungarian purebred sport horses: Gidrans and Kisberi Halfbreds. The horses have lots of staying power and are used to different types of terrain. They are ridden in English tack. We have custom-made saddles, fitted individually for each horse, produced by a saddler manufacture. Five days of riding, 4-5 hours a day in the saddle is common for this vacation. The horses live in the most natural environment possible – free in the fields all year round.
The riding is a mix of paces to suit the actual terrain condition and is fast in places. This vacation is only suitable for good intermediate to experienced riders who are confident in all paces. You must be able to handle a horse at speed in a group situation and be comfortable riding over rough terrain. Some natural obstacles also need to be negotiated. You also need to be healthy and physically fit.

Day 1: Welcome to Transylvania
After arriving at our partner guesthouse in the late afternoon, we get to known each other and have dinner together. A short briefing also takes place.
Day 2: Explore the nature
After breakfast and the horses prepared, we head to our first destination: a lovely rest place in a forest. We ride through Transylvanian villages and meadows, sometimes using cart or forest roads. The hills offer a fantastic view of the countryside, the feeling of freedom and clean air is our fellow traveler. We often see rabbits running over the pastures, foxes escape from the riders’ noise, and groups of deer are watching us on our way.
Day 3: Meet the village life
Second day of riding, we ride through several villages until we reach Énlaka to visit a private museum of rural crafts. Chance for longer trots and canters, also we ride in forest. Picninc from saddle bag at lunchtime.
Day 4: Sightseeing
Free day for horses, best chance for riders to visit around. For example Sighișoara, a beautifully preserved medieval citadel in Transylvania, famous for its colorful houses, cobblestone streets, and the iconic Clock Tower. An UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We have a shorter ride this day on the plateau of Szencsed. We barely meet people, we ride through forest tracks and huge meadows. Also visit the Peat Bog of Fenyőkút where we have a picnic and ride back to yurts. Campfire, a glass of wine and a tasty dinner is waiting for the riders.
